MOTHERS OF THE SUN

This artwork represents the peaceful protesting of the mothers in my homeland who lose their children every day for seeking their basic human rights.
Iran has a history of anti-government protest rallies and uprisings with violent responses by the Iranian authorities, like the killings of 1500 protesters in November 2019, the violent crackdown on protests in Mahshahr, and the shot down of Ukrain Flight 752 by the regime.
Besides the regime, this movement is aimed at poverty, corruption in the economy, and the imprisonment of protesters with no access to their lawyers.
Those were very painful days for us. After 10 days of not having access to the internet while gov killed more than 1500 people in the protests and arrested 7500 more (some of them are still in jail with no access to any lawyer), almost every day on social media I'd see someone with a picture of their loved one on their chest asking for help and justice!
With this work, I tried to capture those feelings that we shared together and not let what they did to us be forgotten.
